about

droneambient was the culmination of many months of work and many, many failures. The original vision I had for the song was to build it off of a improvised recording of just me and my electric guitar using loops and a lot of reverb to create a droney and, well, ambient sound. After 3 of these sessions came up with no usable material I abandoned the project for a while to work on its sister (now abandoned) project titled Monolith. Monolith was the polar opposite of droneambient, it was a loud, noise/drone metal based album but after ultimately completing the song I realised it was terrible! Thus I decided that instead of banging my head against this proverbial brick wall and literal wall of sound, I'd allow Monolith to sit, basically complete, away from the world. After that failure I went back to droneambient with the drive to actually finish it. Another improvisational session failed and I thought to myself: "Fuck it I'll just do it normally". What was produced from there is perhaps one of the most beautiful passages of music I have written to date. Some parts of the failed improv sessions have been twisted, contorted and tortured to fit into this piece so as to not let them go completely to waste (However they appear to have created some strange clipping issues that must have been picked up while they were recorded. Oh well I can call it Lo-Fi now) Anyway this piece of music has been in and out of development for close to 8 months at the time of release and while I don't consider it an album so much as a song, it does wrap up what I consider to be the first "phase" of Leaving Home as a project. Thank you for listening and I will see you in the near future with my next work.
